2023 Season Preview: #91 Morgan McDonald - WISSOTA Pure Stock

2023 Lake of the Woods Speedway Season Preview and Profile

#91
Morgan McDonald
WISSOTA Pure Stocks
Hometown: Kenora, ON, currently in Mitchell, MB

Morgan McDonald has been racing since he was just 10 years old. While it is only his fifth year in stock cars, his racing career goes back another eleven years earlier, in Go-Karts.

McDonald is a Manufacturing Engineer and started racing at Gimli, MB. He has some great memories from that time.

“I ended up tying with my brother Bryson by the thousandth of the second. I also have had some amazing races with Michael Copp.”

He figured that it was time to make the jump to stock cars after Lake of the Woods Speedway opened. Having raced with number 91 in Go-Karts, McDonald decided to keep with tradition. He has made progress every year with a 3rd place feature finished at LOTW and VLS in 2022.

McDonald’s first ever race at Lake of the Woods Speedway was on July 5, 2019 where he finished in sixth of six cars in the heat and fifth in the feature.

As for expectations in 2023, McDonald hopes to have some fun and a whole lot more luck.

“My goal is always try to get a win. Would be very special to win one at home with friends and family. I am hoping to run a few more races at VLS and possibly a couple in Emo.”

He notes his best race in 2022 was starting in 20th place in Winnipeg and drove up to a third place finish when it was all over.

Promoter’s Thoughts – “Morgan McDonald has had his fill of bad luck. Between spins, tires blowing out, smoking the backstretch wall, and mechanical issues, one would hope that only good things are to come. With more potential seat time throughout the year, he might have just what it takes to make it to the front in 2023.”

Looking forward to having you at the track, Morgan!
